Manawa Energy is currently in the process of a potential conditional acquisition by Contact Energy, pending approval from the Commerce Commission and a few other steps. This process is expected to take a number of months, with completion of the acquisition likely to occur sometime in the first half of 2025. During this time, we may not have many updates to share, as the outcome remains undecided.

That said, we want to be as transparent as possible as you consider joining our team. We’re committed to keeping everyone informed about any news or developments so you can make the best decisions for your future. 

• If the acquisition goes through and you’re offered a role at Manawa Energy, your employment would transfer to Contact Energy. Any subsequent changes to your role would be part of a consultation process.

• If the acquisition doesn’t proceed, you’ll continue your journey with Manawa Energy, and nothing about your current employment conditions would change.

Our existing generation fleet is responsible for around 8% of the country’s hydro generation capacity, and our planned solar and wind farm developments will create even more renewable energy to power our homes and businesses.

Wherever you are, we won’t be far away either! Manawa Energy has operations in almost every region, from the Bay of Plenty in the north, to Otago in the south. We operate 26 hydro power schemes across Aotearoa New Zealand, with more renewable generation sites in the development pipeline.

In addition to our generation sites, we have offices in Tauranga (HQ) and Christchurch.
