If you have any questions, or need advice on how to undertake work safely, call us on 0800 35 35 35.

Please note, gaining our permission does not mean you have permission to undertake close approach or excavations near assets that belong to a distribution company, Transpower, or another generating company. You need to apply directly to these companies.

All power lines have the potential to cause serious harm or death to anyone who directly or indirectly touches or gets too close to a conductor or line. Do not attempt to use any measuring device, stick, rod or other material to check distances around any power line.

Trees near overhead lines

Do you have trees on your property that are near our overhead power lines? We can help you make sure they’re at a safe distance.

Trees can cause power outages and are a safety hazard when they are near or under overhead lines. Keeping trees at least four meters from the lines helps to keep the power on and you safe.

If trees on your property need tending to, please contact us so that we can best advise you on how to manage the situation in a safe manner.
